1. What this policy covers
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on motorschap.com, what they do, and how you can control them. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Privacy Policy.
"Cookies and similar technologies" here includes browser cookies as
well as localStorage and sessionStorage,
which motorschap uses instead of cookies for some on-site features.
2. What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to
store. It can be read back on later visits, which lets a site
remember things between page loads or sessions.
localStorage and sessionStorage work
similarly but hold data only in your browser and are never
automatically sent to a server — localStorage
persists until cleared, sessionStorage is discarded
when you close the tab.
Cookies set by the site you are visiting are "first-party"; cookies set by another domain (for example an analytics provider) are "third-party".
3. How motorschap uses them
Strictly necessary / functional
motorschap works without you accepting any cookies. We use a few browser-storage items to remember choices you make on the site: your list of saved cars, your comparison selection, your most recent search filters, and your scroll position when you press the browser Back button. These stay on your device, are not sent to us, and are not used to track you.
Analytics and performance
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how motorschap is used in aggregate — popular searches and pages, which listings get clicked, approximate location, and device and browser mix. This helps us decide what to fix and improve. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (and may use other identifiers) to distinguish devices and sessions. Where required by law, these are set only after you give consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time using the controls in section 5.
What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No cross-site tracking for third-party marketing.
- No social-media pixels or "like button" trackers.
4. The cookies and storage we use
The table below lists the items in use. Cookie names and lifetimes set by Google may change as Google updates its products; the current definitive list for your visit is always visible in your browser's developer tools under Application → Storage.

Google Tag Manager itself does not set cookies. It is the mechanism that loads Google Analytics, which does. For more on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. Managing and disabling cookies
You can control cookies in several ways:
- Browser settings — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear site storage. Search your browser's help for "cookies" or "site data". Blocking all cookies will not stop you browsing motorschap, though your saved and comparison lists rely on browser storage and will not persist if you block or clear it.
- Google Analytics opt-out — install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data being used by Google Analytics on any site.
- Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends one of these signals, we aim to honour it for analytics where technically feasible.
Clearing cookies or site data will also remove your saved cars and comparison list, since those are held in browser storage.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the site or our providers change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
